But you'll have to act fast to get it.
Winter is here and the roads can be treacherous. Sleet, snow and ice can easily make normally passable roads suddenly dangerous. Accident rates increase and drivers are more likely to find themselves in an emergency situation. Thankfully, General Motors’ OnStar system offers in-vehicle security, emergency services, and hands-free calling, among other features, that can be of great assistance if, say, you get stuck in a massive pile of snow.
But what if you don’t have a subscription?
Chevrolet has just announced it is offering up to three free months of OnStar coverage to over 19 million eligible customers. That’s right. It’s free. Well, kind of.
If you’re the owner of a properly equipped Chevrolet vehicle from the 2006 model year to present with an inactive service, then you're eligible. Here’s how to sign up: Simply push the blue OnStar button and tell the voice who picks up at the other end that you want to enroll in the complimentary ‘OnStar Safety and Security’ offer. Right away this individual will get you set up with one month of full OnStar services for free.
However – and here’s the slight catch – you’ll only get the other two additional months of coverage if you provide your credit card info for a monthly renewal plan. This means that once the three months are up, you’ll be paying monthly.

In reality, Chevy owners will only be receiving one month free without any strings attached. It’s not a bad deal by any means, and many OnStar users swear by it, especially when they’re caught up in difficult situations.
«These services can help Chevy customers drive with confidence during some of the most dangerous times to be on the road,” said Paul Edwards, U.S. vice president of Chevrolet Marketing. «With OnStar, we’re bringing peace of mind to owners, knowing that an advisor is ready to help.” If you’re interested in this offer you have until January 23 to enroll.
